I have been here many times in the past few years. The first few years it was kind of a fun place to go and the food wasn't too bad. However, recently I went for Sunday Brunch which is supposed to be from 11:00 - 2:00. The brunch is a buffet for about $ 15.95 per person. We arrived about 12:30. The restaurant was about half full, not too crowded. The experience started out bad when the hostess came out after a few moments of waiting and was completely indifferent to us and never even looked at us when she seated us. The waiter was about as indifferent as the hostess and remained pretty much invisible throughout the meal. When we went to the buffet there wasn't much to choose from. One person was preparing omelets and there was a platter with a breast of turkey and a very small amount of roast beef. The person in front of me asked the omelet guy if there was more beef coming out from the kitchen and he said he would ask but he thought that was it. When I came back later there was no more beef. The rest of the buffet consisted of basically salad items and there wasn't much to choose from and a lot of the items were nearly empty and were never refilled. We spoke to the hostess after the meal to complain about the buffet and she said "Sorry." but it was obvious she did not care.

Amazing brunch! Highly recommend. Price is right and the corned beef hash makes it worth the trip.

Still one of my favorite places. It really is the atmosphere and ambiance I love. The last time I went, we sat in the dining room which is nicely decorated which was nice and quiet compared to the packed bar. We ordered a crab pretzel to start (kind of has a sweet taste to it) and I ordered a side salad and a Turkey Rachel. The side salad actually came out before and was the size of a regular salad and their salads are DELICIOUS. One of my favorites. The Turkey Rachel was piled with turkey on grilled rye bread with cole slaw- the salad filled me up so I only had one half of my sandwich. My friend had the chicken salad sandwich and liked it as well. Ohhh...and the bread and butter they serve before your meal, it's amazing. It's fun to come here because it's different than all the other restaurants in the area and I like the live music you can hear on the weekends. Again, I also like the crowd. If you want a nice place to sit down for some dinner...there's the dining room, or if you want to be in a more upbeat and not so quiet setting, there are tables to sit near the bar. If you want some pub grub and some beers, this is the place to come to too. Parking can sometimes be tricky and you have to park in the funeral home beside it. It's only a short walk though... St. Patrick's Day is almost here too...and the place to go is THE STIL!

Food = 3 stars, Service = 3 stars, Bar and live music = 5 stars. Great place to grab a bite to eat and finish it with a night of dancing and having fun all inthe same place!

The Still is one of the nicer places to go out for food or drinks in the Timonium area. I love sitting on their outdoor patio during the spring and summer. They have a bar out their too, which is very convenient. And I love that it never seems to be too crazy. The crowd here is more mature, which is a nice change compared to other bars in the area that are filled with college kids looking to get trashed. And the Still always has bands playing. Overall, it just has a very nice vibe and is a great place to hang out with friends.

Went back here on our last night and I had the soft shell crabs - which were out of this world!
(5)Leslie G.
For the best burger in town, you can't beat it.! They also have really good tasting Guiness onion rings. The calamari is good, crispy, not greasy tasting. Try the potato encrusted Grouper, you won't be disappointed. Brunches on the wk.end are really nice w/ a nice selection to choose from. I've never really had a bad meal there.

Def good food, but will have u running to the restroom right after. The first time was fine, stomach hurted for a bit, second time was the deal breaker, and all I had was the salad! My lunch made me feel like i was in a renaissance festival, i was waiting for the waitress to come out with armor and mace. I guess this place can be good for some, just my luck.
(2)Brian N.
Don't get to the Stil very often but whenever I have it has never been a disappointment. Guiness battered onion rings..... yum...... Very good and you can dip them in their horseradish laced sauce if you like. I had the Bookmaker sandwich and I will just say that it was a great plate full of garlicy goodness. The sandwich is very tasty and tender roast beef with caramelized onions on garlic toast and served with a roasted garlic mayo and more horseradish sauce, a garlic dill spear and freshly made crisps. So, food was quite tasty... Atmosphere is actually quite authentic as I have been to several pubs in Dublin, Killarney and a few other locals in Ireland. Some things are a bit on the pricey side but they tend to be higher end items... So really, no matter what your budget you can get some good eats and drinks here.

I went here during my recent vacation to Baltimore. I was a little confused...I realize that it is meant to be an Irish bar but the decor made it seem more like something related to the Knights of the Round Table. I ordered the fish and chips and except that I was given a slab of whale it was not the best fish I'd had or that best chips either. It was just average.

Stopped by last night (Saturday) for a drink. Bar less than 1/4 full. Stood in plain sight at corner of bar waiting to be served a drink. And waited, and waited, and waited... Yes a full 10 minutes while the D-bag bartender made google eyes and provided not 1, but 2 free 'drinks on him' to three girls who seemed to be as annoyed with his oogling as I was with waiting. At that point I just raised my arm to see if I could attract the attention of anyone behind the bar. A female who may have been a manager finally came over. I explained how long I patiently waited for service while being ignored for 10 mins. She really didn't seem to care a less. There would have been a perfect opportunity to put my drink on the house given the situation. She did not. Then the oogling bartender (one w a 'beard'), gave a free round of shots to the those only people he was able to see in the bar. 5 free drinks to girls, poor service to paying patron. I will not be back and will be sure that other potential customers know the risk of being treated poorly if they go.

Cheesy decor, chain restaurant food, and poor beer selection does a bad Irish restaurant make.

I inevitably seem to be going up to the Timonium/Cockeysville area at least once a month. On one late evening trip, the hunger overtook us, and we stopped at The Stil, with very low expectations. From the outside it looks like your standard somewhat tacky Irish Pub, located in the county, so really, how good could it be? We were pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff, live music (not sure if it is regular, or if we got lucky), zero wait time for a table (despite the crowd) and amazingly good food, given the location.

When it opened, this pub/restaurant offered excellent food choices. The Still remains a good place to eat, but it has gone downhill in recent years. A stream of menu revisions have sounded the death knell for some of my favorite entrees, and some of the servers/bartenders have an attitude problem. Despite all this, the overall standard is good, with a broad selection of beers on tap and tasty food, if you know what to order. Their version of corned beef and cabbage is the best I've ever eaten in a restaurant, and mainstays like the fish and chips, bangers and mash, etc. are consistent. The only dish I've tried that is truly unpalatable is the Irish stew (too tough). They have regular open-mike nights and misc. performances in the main area that often make conversation impossible, so if you're going for dinner, try to request a table in the back room where it's quiet. And yes, The Still has a tacky fascade and anachronistic decor, but don't let that put you off when you're there to eat.

The food was great and quick but we rarely saw our waitress. The parking lot is completely full and this place is completely packed on a Tuesday evening. The decor is awesome too!

Severely disappointed. We visited Saturday at 7:30 PM expecting to enjoy a couple of drinks and some Irish fare. The shepherd's pie is a poorly executed cottage pie that consisted of 3 tiny pieces of beef 2 peas and a sliver of what I think was carrot along with 2 cups of milky foul gravy tasting gravy. I sent it back. My companion ordered the Irish stew which fared only slightly better as it was tasteless but did include a couple chunks of lamb in 2 cups of gravy served in a bread bowl. Adding copious amounts of salt made it palatable enough for him to eat some. We also ordered the salmon appetizer which was very good with the exception of the overly toasted stale 4 pieces of bread that promptly crumbed into bits on first bite. Our waitress was very attentive until we sent the pie back. We asked for the check 15 minutes later and was briskly told she would be right back. 20 minutes later she asked if we needed anything so we asked for the check again. 10 minutes later we received our check. We eat our several nights a week and had put off visiting until we had a night to relax and enjoy a couple of drinks. $32, and 80 minutes later we left to find another establishment so that we could eat. The atmosphere is lovely and very quaint. they did try to make it feel like a genuine pub and succeeded for the most part.

Let's just start out that it's close to home. One star there just for location (sometimes you really don't want to go into the city for dinner). Bar staff is very friendly, and the patrons are non-intrusive and I have yet to ever witness any drama at the bar. It's a very nicely decorated place, that gives it that warm lived in feel. Very inviting, if not at times a little dark. The beer selection is pretty meh, but it is an Irish Bar. They have the Irish staples and a couple of micros in bottle, so at least there is something to drink. The mixed drinks seem to typically come a little on the weak side as well. But what do you expect in a joint that caters to suburbanites that are upper-middle class? The food... oh the food. So inconsistent that it hurts. I've had some great dishes here (mostly fried stuff, fish and chips are banging) and some dishes that are really just sad. I've gotten delivery from CarryoutMenu from here before as well (didn't feel like driving over to pick it up) and it seems when they see a CarryOutMenu order, they put the least effort into it as possible. Some of the specials that they have are pretty decent, but nothing that would get me back every week. My biggest nitpick is the value. Don't go here expecting a cheap date, and don't expect to feel like you got a good value for the money. Everything is probably 10%-15% higher in cost than it feels like it actually should be in the type of environment that you are in. Overall, I'd say it's a decent place. Not a destination restaurant at all, but worth going to in the area. I'll be back I'm sure, but mostly because it is right around the corner from the house.

I went there for my father's birthday with a group on 6 people. The waitress was the WORST!!! The place was not crowded, we got there at 4:30. Ordered appetizers and drinks. It took the waitress 4 reminders to bring water. We ordered the Brie appetizer and the bread was so old and stale and it actually had MOLD on it! Who wants to eat that?!?! When we told the waitress she just said I can bring out some crackers. At that point we were all a bit grossed out but our meals came out and everyone ate. They were OK, nothing special and I think after the moldy bread issue we were all a little turned off. The waitress brought out the check and she charged us for the brie with the moldy bread!!! I realize it was the kitchens fault the bread was moldy but do not charge me for it!!! I asked the waitress to speak with the manager and upon asking that nasty, rude girl rolled her eyes at me and said "well I offered you crackers." I went up to the bar and asked the bar tender for a manager. His reply was that there was not one available. How can you not have a manager there??? His only remedy was to offer us a round of drinks. I can at least say the bar tender tried to fix the situation but we still had to pay for the moldy bread. To sum it up, DO NOT EAT AT THE STILL unless you like RUDE waitresses and MOLDY bread! P.S. do not look up at the ceiling if moldy, dusty vents gross you out. The pace could really use some daily cleaning!

Still likin' the pub-in-a-kit on York Rd. About as truly Irish as Kim Jong-freakin'-Il, but pretty solid in the beer-and-sandwich game. After an afternoon spent getting drizzled on while busting clay pigeons, a couple of well-poured Boddington's with creamy heads hit the spot. Add tasty Guinness-batter onion rings with horseradish sauce, and a bison burger grilled exactly how I asked for it - perfectly juicy medium-rare - and I'm pretty damned happy.
(4)Jonathan G.
From the outside, the Still looks like a nice, large Irish restaurant, and indeed, once you walk inside, there's a cavalcade of TVs, activity, and cobblestone walls. It looked amazing, and the buzz from the crowd made it seem really happening. And then our hostess walked us *past* all that, and into the back of the restaurant, into an add-on to the building that was actually a trailer, where the table had a plastic tablecloth, and it was half-empty. The few people that were there were older folks with kids. What the crap.

Food is either hit or miss. Bar area is awesome. Sometimes, I guess, I should just get myself there, sit around the bar and order some pub grubs. I am sure they are quite good. visited the place twice, first time the food was absolutely, five stars delicious. Steak melted in your mouth. Some nice local band playing. Pint of fresh Guinness... Great company... Fast refills, and attentive waitress... Meal for two was slightly above 50 dollars, drinks included. Next time we had two small kids with us, it was a Saturday night, I know, not the best time to go bar-diving, but Red Robin/ Cheesecake factory were super crowded. Well, we were seated far away from all the fun and the bar, food arrived lukewarm and the waitress could care less, but...kids loved it. Some band was playing live and kids went dancing, had great time and they want to come back, not for the food, but for fun. And I think we will, the place is authentic, local and cool. Honest meal, honest prices, live music=FUN.
(4)Marc S.
I usually come here on Monday nights with a few friends because they have open mic night which is fun plus $2 Killian's and $2.50 Blue Moons. There's usually a diverse, fun crowd and it doesn't get crazy busy so it's easy to get a drink. The bartenders are attentive and nice and unlike a lot of bars, they know how to do a proper pour of Guinness. The weekend crowd is older but still a lot of fun and they always have great live music on Friday and Saturday nights. All the food I've had here is great. My favorites are the Smokehouse Chicken Sandwich and the crab pretzel. If you're looking to avoid the disaster that is Hightopps across the street, come to The Still for a few drinks in a more relaxed atmosphere. Oh, and definitely come here on St. Patrick's Day, it's wild!
(5)Andrew D.
It's a lot of hype. The bar is cool as is the atmosphere. But I keep being put I'm the extension, which is nice if not crowded. The food is hit or miss. Much like the chips there is a lot if inconsistency. I had the bookmaker before and it was great, very flavorful. But I had the Reuben last night and I felt slighted. There wasmore sauerkraut than anything and not enough dressing to taste. A shame because the corned beef was perfect. Unless you want French fries don't bother, they are pretty average great affair. Overall, I'd say it's hands down a great bar, but aa restaurant kind if average. It's really just Irish themed bar food, great if you're dunk, eh if you're hungry.
(4)Michelle B.
BLARNEY SPRING ROLLS... Decent food, great atmosphere, a little cramped, but on a slow night, a table by the fireplace is very cosey. A family fave.
(4)Rebecca G.
Excellent food, great beer menu, nice atmosphere. Delicious, authentic pub food, with an atmosphere and decor that reminds me of old pubs in Galway and Dublin. It's cozy, a little dark, and with lots to look at on the walls - great for a date or a small group meal. I've had a few entrees and they've all been well-cooked and delicious, with great sides. Service is friendly and quick, and dark beers are well-poured (a rarity around here).
(4)Ada G.
Holy huge fish & chips! Seriously! The fish was bigger than my dog's head! (OK - I admit that I have a little 18 lb dog, but STILL - that's a huge piece of fried fish!) The six year old got the kids fish & chips - it's about the size of a normal order anywhere else. Husband got the bangers & mash - very very tasty. I love the cheesy decor - lots of old weapons on the walls, and the antler chandeliers were excessive, but somehow made it more cozy. The place was not hoppin, but that's likely because it was a monday night at 7 when we got there. Service was just ok - nothing over the top great, but not worthy of complaints either. I will likely go back, but not often. I had enough holy-mother-of-all-fish-and-chips to last me quite awhile.
(3)S W.
Went to the An Poitin Stil this evening with a friend for dinner. We ordered the crab dip which was different, but good. We also both ordered the special - Prime Rib which wasn't so good. The meat was very tough and over cooked. Prime Rib is supposed to be tender and flavorful. Ours was not. The waitress was nice and the atmosphere was good. Just wish we would have ordered something different.
(2)Torrence A.
I'm a regular, food is pretty good, had their chicken with crab meat mash pot. and asparragus very much enjoyed it. Always have a Guinness there and they do know how to pour and in a pint ale glass not a plastic cup like the bar across the street. They always have live music on the weekends. The crowd is very diverse and I that's why I spend a lot of my time there.
(4)John F.
Very cool place with separate little dining nooks and a nice patio/bar outside. We hogged a table for three hours outside and did not feel pressured at all to move on--I had the filet and it was very good--not th ebest I have ever had but definately good and worth the $18. My date had the Bangers and Mash and said it was great! The crab deviled eggs were nothing special. After dinner, we moved into the bar and watched a really decent band and ended up closing the place down at 2am. Staff was fun and attentive. Had a good time and the next time we are int he area, we will be back.
(4)Laura B.
I'd have given it a 2.5 stars if it was possible. I've been here 4 or 5 times and have enjoyed the food and the drinks (great guinness pour). I like that there's an alternative to the chains in the area (Applebees, Chllis, etc.) but my main gripe is the lousy hostess (especially the lousy hostesses) and waitstaff we get every time we come. Really, Stil... hire some people who aren't still in or just out of high school and seem to give a crap about their job! I've never sat at the bar but if I go back I'll give that a try. That annex has got to go. Seriously if there's no one in the place don't seat people (even if it's just a party of two) out in the bad mural room! Save it for big groups or for overflow!
(3)Ann M.
We love this place. They serve authentic, freshly made Irish food and provide a variety of entertainment, mostly local singers who always liven up the joint. This is not your ordinary run-of-the-mill Irish pub. Although I've not had everything on the menu, the food is quality. The prices aren't cheap but you get what you pay for. The little details and pride that go into the recipes, make all the difference. My absolute favorite dish is the Irish Lamb Stew served in a sour dough bread bowl with a garnish of rosemary. What's best is they don't over-salt the stew or their soups. Also, the table bread, a traditional sweet brown bread served with lightly sweetened butter, is amazing! Stil has a community feel to it; people are friendly, the environment is casual and cozy (fireplace!), and the decor will capture your interests (medieval Ireland). We recently moved to Mount Vernon and miss frequenting this place. We found an Irish pub/restaurant in Harbor East that claims to have 'fine Irish food'. James Joyce has nothing on Stil!
(5)Amanda F.
The interior of this place is worth going for any reason. We happened to be looking for somewhere to eat and the outside of this place looked interesting so we stopped. It was a saturday afternoon and there was hardly anyone in there, which is extra points. I'm sure saturday nights and friday nights are obscene however. The food was great - a little pricey.. I had the Brie - which i've never even heard of. It was fantastic, and a salad. My bf had the chicken and crab dinner meal (which i cannot remember the actual name of) it was ok.. nothing spectacular. Bartendar was pleasant. Will be frequenting this place!
(5)Amber A.
The American influence hasn't watered down The Still's character. There is decent food, colorful music, and interesting service. I've been going there regularly and always see the same staff (they like their jobs). The employees are committed, and I never had an empty glass. The beer selection wasn't as large as I'd hoped, but they offer a satisfying selection. Food was surprisingly great. I would've given 5 stars if they had roast dinners. UPDATE: After taking a large party to the Still and bragging it up, I was really let down. My colleagues and I all decided to have several drinks that night and we unfortunately were all charged numerous transactions not adding up anywhere near what we owed. Unfortunately, this also caused overdraft fees that should've never happened and each member of the party that paid ended up having to go in and speak to a manager to resolve their issues several days later. I'm pretty sure the waitress that night was trying to scam us because of the absurd amount we drank....OR she just hated us; either way, something went seriously wrong and my opinion of The Still is no longer what it was. I think I will wait a long time before I try it out again.
(2)Nick B.
Nice place for small receptions. Really nice old world decor. Several bars to wait for a table at and they know how to pour beer. Ask for a cocktail and you SOL. Food is forgettable but not bad. Weekends are packed so you will be waiting. During the week this and hightops across the street are the go to watering hole for happy hours for the locally employed.
(4)Nick W.
+ Love the food. Been there about 10 times. The brunch is also good. - The service is terrible. I mean consistent, epic poor service. It's clear they don't train the servers and hire anyone that applies. We've come to expect it and no longer sit at a tabl
(3)Jonathan G.
The Stil is an awesome place to have out in the burns here. Reminds me of when I would hit the pubs downtown. The food is always excellent, and it draws a great younger professional crowd in the evenings. No real specials to speak of. My wife and I love the seasonal Cobbler (smoked Gouda). The female servers and hostesses have been having mood swings in the past, but they seem to ne hiring some new folks.
(4)Vicky F.
I was impressed that the place wasn't packed for being a bar in the middle of Timonium during a Raven's game. That being said, I did happen to sit next to "that guy" at the bar, which annoyed me after my last beer. The host was extremely pleasant and helpful, very nice service. The bartender on the patio wasn't the same. He seemed to be annoyed the entire time we were there and had zero personality. I felt as if he needed to lighten up considering the bar wasn't packed and we were the only ones staying longer than to eat. The food was great, definitely a change from greasy bar food. We had two Killian's each for $4 bucks so that was definitely a plus as well. The setting is really cool, I liked the dim lighting and the straight from Dublin feel. They definitely take pride in their beer, their selections definitely outnumber the competition in the area. I would recommend, but try to stray from the guy that yells at the TV and/or the bartender that hates life.
(3)Sandra R.
Pros: Really fun atmosphere Great gluten free options! (I had a guacamole burger, it was delicious) Good for bigger groups, as well as smaller tables Very large drink selection Cons: Bad service, despite being the ONLY people in the entire place (it was pretty late on a weeknight when we went), our food took forever. Our waitress was also scarce as soon as we got our food (I waited 20 minutes to flag her down to ask for the guacamole my burger was supposed to come with). Overall, the selection and decor is enough that we'll be back, just prepared to wait a little longer.
(4)Tierra C.
Last visit was 8 years ago and I wasn't impressed with the place. Thought I'd give it another chance. Interior and exterior design was charming, cosy and typical. Ordered a bowl of Irish cobbler soup. It didn't look very appetizing and wasn't anything special. Reuben sandwich could've been better. Not much flavor. Corned beef was done well. Clean and tender. The side of "colcannon" I'm 100% sure was instant mashed potatoes. Dry and crumby. No Magners on tap. What kind of "Irish" bar is this!?!?!? At least they had it in a bottle. Service was on point. Menu has a large enough selection. Would be nice if I knew there was out door seating. Can't say id go back.
(2)Gray M.
Food took a very long time to come out, but was hot. Crap Dip was good but way too salty (had to send it back.) Nachos were the best thing we had. We should have just ordered three of those! But the Snakebite was good, at least. Bison Burger was okay. Bookmaker sandwich was only flavorful when dipped it in the horseradish sauce. And finally, even though our server was nice, he did not check back on us and we had to ask another server for our check. We paid and left. Overall, meh. We won't be returning
(3)Betsy B.
The Shepard's Pie was amazing, the draft beer was fantastic, the people friendly and atmosphere was relaxing. You've got to try it!
(4)Christa H.
Like coming here because they have Boddingtons on draft and the food is consistently good! Enjoy the patio when the weather is good:-). Most of the time have friendly and efficient service! Only drawback is space. Frequently packed on Friday and Saturday especially if there is an event at the fairgrounds which means standing and some wait for a beer and food.
(4)Steve G.
I've been going here for years and I am very rarely disappointed. The staff is very polite and interactive with the customers. They make very good food suggestions (my bar tender suggested getting the Prime Rib blackened and that's the way I've gotten it ever since). The Sunday Brunch is always a treat. During the cooler months I like to sit out on the "Paddy-O" and enjoy a beer and a bite to eat. They have a very diverse food menu and beer selection. Highly recommend.
(4)Nicholas M.
Looks real nice, but the food is nothing to write home about. Probably the worst shepherds pie I've ever had. It's more like bland pot roast covered in bland mashed potatoes. The only thing I could really taste was lemon. Don't think a shepherds pie should taste like lemon. And one of my pieces of beef was nothing but fat, gristle, and big swollen blood vessels. Gross. My wife had the bland overcooked fish and chips. My son had the duck sliders, which could have very well been turkey. No flavor and way too much bread for the patty size. We won't be back.
(2)Tasha D.
My brother-in-law had his rehearsal dinner here last week, and everything was awesome. I had the filet mignon, which was a really great slab of meat, and it was cooked rare quite nicely. Salad was ok, dessert was ok, filet was excellent. All the servers were great and they set up a slide show of the bride and groom, which went really smoothly. Thought the decorations were adorable and the bathrooms were very clean. Probably the best place I've been to in this general area. The cover band in the main room was HORRENDOUS tho. Haha.
(4)Michaek S.
Yummy, filling, spot-on bar food, great selection of booze and beers, in a medieval-inspired faux-Irish pub atmosphere-- what's not to love?? They even get live music some time!! The have a nice outdoor seating area, lots booths and tables, and a large bar area. It's kind of dim and has all sorts of medieval-themed and Irish decor, like wicked nasty sharp stick weapons screwed tightly to walls (makes bar fights less lethal) and little dainty plates behind glass. The only real drawback-- it gets so packed in the evening it can be impossible to find a parking spot- their lot is small, and the lot next door is gated. Service is also friendly, but a tad slow. Fish and chips--- really, really good! Solid plank of fish; bigger than my head, a full fillet of flounder, crispy battered in a sweet-sour beer batter, with an excellent homemade tartar sauce for dipping. Authentic chips-- skin in, freshly cut, fried boardwalk style (more limp than crispy- good if you're a fan of that style). Enough food to explode stomach like Monty Python. My wife had the Reuban-- real corned beef was used, no lunch meat-- fried crispy, lots of gooey cheese and thousand island dressing, nice dollop of crispy-sour saurkraut; homemade potato chips (hmm- crisps, since we're in an Irish bar!), with a really tasty sour-cream onion dip. With a couple of Murphy's stouts, we were full, happy, and (d@mn, we're getting old) ready for a nice nap!!

This is a decent Irish themed bar just off of 83. It is one of those "is what it is" kinda places. They have cold beer which is a plus. They have decent pub grub and Irish influenced dishes, which is also a plus. The exterior is themed to resemble an Irish village and that is great looking and a wonderful idea, but I want more. "The Good" - The staff is friendly and polite. - The food is decent, but there is that "There is nothing wrong or bad with it, but there is nothing that makes it stand out" factor. - I have had the Lamb Stew and enjoyed it, but had it again and it was not so hot. - The Blarney Springrolls are very good. - The building just plain looks cool. "The Meh" - The outside would lead you to believe that the place is huge. Sadly, it resembles the outside more insofar as there are small compartments that can be difficult to navigate once the place gets crowded. - The food is hit or miss when it comes to preparation. They have a chef that knows what he is doing and can handle the rush and then other times it is a complete train wreck. "The Bad" - They need to knock down a few walls because it seems like a house that has had rooms added on as the popularity grew. The bad part about that is that nothing has been added to make those new parts special... The farther away you go from the bar the less enjoyable the experience. The best way to explain it is being stuck at the kiddie table for Thanksgiving...

Do not support this attitude ridden place. Good food but with fair service and poor management. Went there on a moderately busy Saturday night about a week ago expecting to hear a band on a friend's recommendation; they sounded great. While waiting for our food and group of friends to come later to meet us for drinks afterwards, the band was 'dismissed'. WTF??? We called our group of friends and told them don't bother to travel up. As other people were coming in, we asked one of the guys in the band why they were leaving and he said ask the management. Just plain poor business. The band & food were good, but just an all around bad vibe with the employees and management there. We won't be back.

As hard as I try, I can't bring myself to like this place. I've been here just a handful of times over the years, but I've never really liked this place as much as say, Ryan's Daughter. We came here last night since my compadre loves the corned beef and cabbage here. I decided to get a crab pretzel, a usually safe bet for me. The first one I got came out ice cold, so I sent it back. The second one was worlds better, but didn't wow me. On the plus side, they do have Natty Boh on tap and the wait staff is friendly.

Unfortunately this gets lesser ratings most times because it was the 1st of its kind in Baltimore... An Poitin Stil has its pluses though... the beer flows well the music is great and decor is perfect for making you feel like you just walked into Dublin!!! If you are going to go some place for grub then you won't be disappointed either the shepards pie and the soda bread here are fantastic and filling for a night of drinking with the boys!!!

Sit at the bar. There are numerous seats and the bartenders are friendly. Plus, it will allow for much quicker service. The quality of service at the tables can vary, as can the quality of neighbors at adjoining tables. The food is traditional with no real surprises, but is good and filling, with generous portions. I've found the Guinness pour to be consistently solid, and the atmosphere is lively, especially if you get there for the live music on the weekends.

Been coming here for several years now. As a previous poster said, the ambiance is and always has been awesome--unless you are relegated to the far left added-on part of the building. Apparently that's where the elderly, people with kids, and random two tops go. And the wait staff there seems to act accordingly. Our server on our last visit was surly, and it was only 3 in the afternoon. I have a feeling she had a long day ahead of her. The food seems to have become progressively more mundane over the years. On this last visit, I had the stuffed pork chop, which was a bit overdone, tough and dry, with a fairly nice sauce. There was very little stuffing to speak of; perhaps a tablespoon of gray, sodden, apple-flavored mush. The sweet potato fries were overdone and uninteresting. The veg of the day, asparagus spears, was nicely cooked, not too raw, but with a pleasant crunch--but they were dry and plain. The colcannon side had a nice flavor, but the texture was dry and very reminiscent of instant mashed potato. I could have made a better version of this meal at home with one hand tied behind my back for considerably fewer dollars. On the other hand, my husband enjoyed his fish and chips. So we may give them one more try before we give up. Hopefully they'll pick up the slack, because we have loved this place so in the past. We really want to love it again.

I went here for a dinner meeting about a couple of weeks ago. The service was good, the food HORRIBLE and overpriced!!! The waiter brought out brown bread, which is always a favorite of mine, but this stuff was chewy and very sweet. It was also served with honey butter, again very sweet. The cream of crab might have had some crab shreds in it, but it tasted more like very thick chicken cream soup and it was bland. However, I did find some pieces of shell in mine. I decided to order the Irish stew which comes in a bread bowl. The bread was OK, but the stew was a white, floury paste with a hint of meat and some orange bits that I think was supposed to be carrot. I decided at that point I was not hungry anymore and had the waiter remove it. Others at our table did eat their dinners, but most of us agreed we would not waste our time and money at this place in the future. I am not sure what others see in this place other than the drinks. The bar was busy, but the dining room was not. Not surprised.

Had a work happy hour here (yay for drinking on the company's dime!) and the while pre-selected appetizers didn't taste very good (cheese plate - ok, veggie's and dip - as good as veggies and dip are, crab balls - crappy, way too similar to the Phillip's crab balls you can buy at the grocery store, mini spring rolls - actually pretty decent, and mini chicken tenders - meh) but the drinks, particularly the Orange Crush, were perfect. Fresh squeezed orange juice + vodka = heaven. I probably could've sucked down about 5 more of them, which would've been pretty dangerous considering how much vodka was actually in it. Despite the not awesome food, the semi-outside patio was perfect on a day like today and I have a newfound love for Orange Crushes, so yay for the Stil. Will definitely be back to try lunch or dinner sometime soon.

We had a night before the wedding party at "The Still" on the patio (Paddy-o) and it was great. The food was excellent, the bar tender attentive; the servers were on top of everything! Everyone had a fabulous time. I was able to mingle and have fun and not worry about anything! I would definitely recommend the Still...

Im not sure what the big hype about this place is. I remember when It opened no one could say the name of this place right. I have been here once for dinner and once for some kind of st particks day celebration. Both times are just eh. The interior is just kinda scary. Really dark and cramped. This kind of restaurant belongs in the inner harbor of Baltimore where the other tourist themed restaurants belong. Food was not to my liking nor the atmosphere.

After the bike show on Sunday, 10 Feb 2013, we were looking for some good Irish food. This place is a stones throw from the Maryland state fairgrounds. Ordered the shepards pie and a black smith. The pie isn't made with lamb but they use sirloin tips instead. Meat was tender and the pie is pretty good. If you're in Timonium, this is a good place to have a meal.
(4)Colby R.
They have a good selection of crafted and standard beers on tap. The appetizers that I tried were very good with my favorites being the crab cakes and sauteed shrimp. The chicken was largely forgettable but next time I go I'll give dinner menu a shot. If you like crafted beers I suggest the Raging Bitch IPA which they actually have on tap:)

On a Saturday night at 7:30pm we were seated right away. We started our date night with a Guiness and Harp over the gratis Irish Soda bread and honey butter. For starters we opted for the melt in your mouth Stout Brie served with sliced oranges and bread sticks. My hubby started with the Irish Spring Rolls, cabbage and corned beef rolled in a light spring roll, who said they were delish! For our meal, we went light with the Bookmaker Sandwich - tender thin cuts of roast beef with caramelized onions on a soft roll and horseradish dip, and the traditional Reuben - which was as tender as it possibly could be! In lieu of dessert, I opted for the Irish Martini (Jameson, Blue Caracau and OJ) and it hit the spot with sweetness with the sugar rimmed glass. Overall, an excellent dining experience and lives up to being one of our favorite restaurants in Maryland!
(5)Matthew V.
I want to like this place. I really do. It seems so cool form the outside, the theme is right, and who doesn't like a rich stout beer? But the food is just ok with decent portions but not worth price. Every time I've been (3 or 4x now), I get shuttled to the cold and bland annex, past all of the cool seating areas. The service is also inevitably poor. One time I was here for a group function and the management made an enormous stink about how the bill was being paid for no good reason. In conclusion, if you're in the area with corned beef on the brain - stop by, but otherwise you can do better.
(3)Jeremy R.
An Irish themed Applebys. Although menu items looked unique and interesting most of the food was "boil-in bag" type cuisine. Sandwiches were small but adequate. Onion rings and fries were good. Chocolate "lava" cake was a bundt cake with chocolate syrup on top. Skip it and go to the Cheesecake factory for better quality family dining.
(2)Jeff W.
A surprisingly good irish bar/restaurant. It's a little cheesy from the outside, and looks like some kind of theme restaurant you'd see in Disney World. It's an attempt at making the restaurant appear to be a little irish village. Inside the decor and cheesiness continue with the look and feel of different rooms of an old town, complete with a bar that looks like a pharmacy, and even a dungeon area with wrought iron gates, suits of armor, and other weapons on the walls. I never knew the Irish were so hell bent on melee combat and keeping prisoners! Weird decor aside, the food was quite good. I got a buffalo burger which was perfectly cooked and came with homemade potatoes chips. Sides were $1.99 and I opted for an order of calcannon (mashed potatoes and cabbage) that was delicious. There were a lot of other irish items on the menu that I'd love to come back and try. The bar also features a pretty extensive selection of Irish whiskey and other liquors. Overall it was a great lunch, and very reasonably priced. It's a pretty unique restaurant that I wouldn't hesitate in returning to.

We had lunch here today, and I ordered fish & chips, which is usually awesome, but today, not so much. It was tough...and after a couple of bites, I put it aside. Our server didn't come check on us till my husband was finished with his delicious bookmaker sandwich, and when I told her I wasn't happy with the fish, she said she was sorry and would tell the manager to see what he would do. He didn't do anything. Didn't come see me, didn't take it off the check. Not another word was said about it. I'm not sure what happened to the idea of hospitality, but maybe this is the reason I almost always see a fairly empty parking lot. A shame, this.

Omg the bread pudding. Omg the chicken tenders. Good vibe and good whiskey selection too. Looking forward to trying even more off their menu. Really like this place.
(4)Jeff H.
The Stil is what you should expect from an Irish pub; relaxed, friendly and great beer on tap! The food consists of terrific traditional Irish fare. Bangers and mash, Shepherds pie, and lots of meat and potatoes on every plate. It's a nice place to meet up after work and just drink and chat up with friends or to make some new ones. There are also weapons on the wall in case of an invasion. So that's a plus.
(4)Monika A.
It was fun and I recommend making a reservation. I'd go back.

I've probably visited thirty faux-Irish Pubs in as many states and this one is a great example of that genre. An atmosphere of dark wood and dim lighting on a hot day is a wonderful thing. Oh yeah, cold beer served by a pretty bartender also adds to the experience. I was drinking Boddingtons with that beautiful creamy head and it really hit the spot. Shepherd's Pie should always be on the menu in a joint like this. Yup, there it was and I went for it at $13.99. My bartender asked if l would like to begin with some warm brown bread and honey butter and I told her to go for it. It was a delicious way to start. My pie arrived in good time it was browned perfectly. As others have said they use sirloin tips instead of ground beef and that was a nice touch. The amount of vegetables in the filling was a little lacking. Because of that I would say my pie was very good but not great. However when added to my brown bread starter it was a nice meal and I was stuffed. Customer service here was just fine as my good looking bartender was also friendly and competent. These folks are a fine example of an Americanized Irish Pub. My fellow Yelpers say 3 1/2 stars and I would agree if I could. Given a choice of three or four, I'm going with a very strong three.

Solid place for decent food and decent beer selection. I've been to the Stil numerous times over the years, and in general it's tended to be good but not great. Not the biggest fan of the Hawaiian style sandwich rolls, on which a good number of their sammiches are served. During my last visit it was good to see that they offer some good craft beer choices, including locals. Service has varied during my more recent visits, being a tad on the slow side once or twice. Pricing is fair for the food, and some of the daily specials are good. Finally, as a lover of Irish and Celtic music, it would be good to see it offered here more often, rather than the usual music selection that's found in so many places.
(3)Angela B.
My friends from work and I came here for a post work Happy Hour and holiday white elephant gift exchange. I was happy with the ambience and was surprised that the bar area was so spacious. The tap selection at the bar was decent and Happy Hour prices were pretty awesome. I ordered two Blue Moons and a Loose Cannon and ended up paying about 10 dollars while we were hanging out at the bar. My friend tried to reserve the cool table with stained glass windows, but when we sat down, one of the servers said we had to move since it was reserved an hour later. We moved, but it turned out no one ever showed up to take the original table, so that was a bit annoying. The food was a pleasant surprise for bar food! I tried the spinach artichoke dip, along with the chicken quesadilla and the shrimp tacos. The portions were really impressive and the quesadilla and tacos were fresh. I think my favorite food though was the bread! It was fantastic. Warm, chewy, slightly sweet. I could have had an entire loaf! Yum. Service was solid and the prices were really decent. I'd return if in Timonium again!

This place is great. We were in town on business and the Stil was recommended by our client. They spoke very highly of the place and they were right. Great food, music and service.

The Still has been around for years, but I never come here enough. I always have a good time here. I generally only drink here. I don't ever eat here, but I'm eager to try it soon. The crowd is usually a blend of demographics, but the competitive nature of York Road's bars tend to pull the younger crowds away from The Still. The night I went featured a mostly 30-45-ish crowd (This can be fun for all of the wrong reasons if you are younger; my date and I enjoyed some of the wardrobe choices offered for visual consumption on this night). What I Like: - Live music on Saturday nights and it's usually pretty good. - Great bartending, they have a variety of fun drinks. Try the "Snake-Bite", a 50/50 mix of Guinness and cider. - Decor is amazing, as the entire bar features a thoughtful design concept that attempts to capture an authentic Irish bar experience (or as authentic as faux can go). It's different, and that is welcomed. What I Didn't Like: - Parking can be tough on busy nights. They have their own lot, but it's tight if you have a truck. - While live music was featured, it's kinda shoehorned into the space. The creative design and layout interferes with sight lines and dance areas. Not that I'm a big dancer (kinda floppy but funky), but on a busy night you hear the live music but see only a portion of the action. Overall this is a unique and suitable option for drinking, entertainment, and decor. Since they have a full menu that I haven't tried, there is potential for a higher rating. In fairness to consistent ratings, I only had a few drinks. If I could give it a 3.5 stars, I would. If the food is any good, I would consider a 4. If I wrote the review while drinking, I would've given them 39 stars. Give it a try! It's a lot of fun,
(3)Jeff K.
I've been here several times and there's hardly ever any consistency. The food is just ok, which I've mostly ordered the fish and chips. I do enjoy their mashed potatoes and cabbage. If you arrive late when a band is playing or is some trivia night, be prepared to not be greeted right away and at times very lousy service. I think every time I've been there the servers are never be found when a check is needed.

We've been during the week, we've been on a weekend. When isn't this place rocking and rolling, I ask you? Monday night was open mic night and it wasn't terrible, actually. The MC was quite good, he had a nice voice and I'm a sucker for the acoustic guitar. The decor is very interesting, and you can even sit in alcoves and what not. The only issue being the main dining room is pretty much all bar, or in close proximity to, so the noise level can be up there a bit. If this doesn't bother you, then you're good to go. My friend had the shepherd's pie which she felt was divine. Beef tips NOT ground beef, and baked until the potatoes were just a tad brown. I was just feeling like soup and salad, but the Irish soup was ok. Like a sweeter version of a french onion with cheddar on top instead of swiss. I'd go back if I were looking to go, eat some grub and hang at a bar. It seems like it could be a cool hangout spot.
(4)Mary L.
Have been there many times. Use to be good but would not go back. Went on a cold day looking for good comfort food.Place it self was cold and the food then was cold. What a shame.
(2)Sara R.
YUM!!!!! The corn beef spring rolls= to die for. Shrimp and grits are really really good also. I haven't had anything bad from here but those are my favorites.
(5)Matt M.
Great food, service and atmosphere. We had the Corn Beef & Cabbage, Bangers & Mash and Crab Dip. Our server, Shannon, was very friendly and helpful.
(4)Johhny H.
Beer tasted horrible out of the tap . Lines not being properly serviced according to another patron who knew a lot more about the bar business then me.

While the interior of this place is pretty neat, it does not make up for horrible service. My party had 6PM reservations and we were seated promptly. Very good start right? Sadly that is where the good ended. The server took our order and then disappeared for 30 min's. One round of drinks was consumed and another was not forthcoming for some time. At the 40 min. mark the server returned, got us more drinks, but no trace of the appetizers we ordered at 6:15pm. Our aps came out at 7PM. Our dinners arrived just shy of 8pm. Even more unfortunate was the fact that the food was not really anything special. The crab cake was not very flavorful, the risotto was mushy and clumpy, and the ribs were served, inexplicably, with coleslaw spread on top of them and the BBQ sauce was more ketchup than anything. This is an unacceptable ticket time and the kitchen should know better. The served offered no explanation, even when asked. We never saw a manager or anyone besides our server. Even if the kitchen was slammed, the manager should have been on top of it and visiting tables to give the guests a heads up. It is just bad business to ignore problems when they arise. Almost 2 hours is a ridiculous amount of time to pass from order to arrival of food. The place is on York road and is within one mile of many other restaurants. Way too much competition for that sort of lax service and attention. I have no plans to return
(1)Becca P.
Good service and good food. One of my favorite places to go and relax at the bar, and enjoy a couple of drinks and a juicy burger. They make the best Snakebite that I've ever had (1/2 Guiness and 1/2 hard cider layered in the glass) and for a great price. They have live music most nights right there in the bar, which can be a bit loud when you're trying to have a conversation with someone, but is entertaining nonetheless.
(4)D C.
Miss the Still. Last time I was up there was back in May. Great place & good times. The Bookmaker sandwich was my favorite. Early 2000s were the best time there with awesome bartenders such as Wigs (RIP) R.J, John, Dennis, Mark & Lance.
(4)Randy J.
Get the hang off the plate fish platter and take your pick on about a thousand draft and bottle beers.Really a neat setup inside with different rooms and decor.
(4)Chrissy K.
We love coming to the Stil on all occasions. We love the Shepherds pie (the people dissing it are out of their minds!), the goat cheese salad, anything with crab (I'm a Baltimore native and it's my favorite crab pretzel anywhere!), and the absolute favorite is the potato crusted grouper. The have great specials and a reverse happy hour later in the evening. Monday night open mic is always a good time, even on less busy nights. Make the stil a dinner stop and you won't be disappointed.
(5)James H.
Nice place with a very nice staff. Unfortunately the food is lacking. Both my wife and I had shepherds pie. Not much meat just a lot a mashed potatoes and a very bland sauce.
(2)Kevin F.
North of Baltimore is a lot quieter than the city, and my fiancé and I were looking for some action! This IS an Irish pub! "Uncommitted" was rocking the live jams, playing everything from Black Eyed Peas to Tom Petty. Great energy, and the Jameson drinks were flowing! If you are looking for late-night action in and around this part of town, this is the place to go!
(4)Paul S.
First time dining here... Upon first impressions it was a very cozy atmosphere, fire roaring, hardwood, brick, and stone. It was quiet and the staff was super helpful and friendly. They serve brown bread, sadly it wasn't warm and didn't seem like it was the freshest, but they honey butter served with it is very tasty. Ordered the Bookmaker sandwich, onions were tasty, cheese was nice, soft garlic bread, sadly if you are like me, and hate your roast beef well done and are a medium rare type, this sandwich isn't for you, i sent it back because the meat was just tasteless. Don't get me wrong, everything else about it was nice, the portion was huge and I hate being that guy who sends stuff back. The waitress was completely understanding. I then got what my friend was having, the venison. I had never really had deer before and its more rich than any steak Ive ever had, i couldn't even finish the meat entirely. Well worth what you are paying for with the portion side, taste, and appearance of the dish, looked like it belonged in a 5 star restaurant. Its been on their menu for over 10 years so its highly recommended. They serve very large sodas so refills are barely needed. Despite the first dish, it was still an amazing dining experience, i would say the menu is either hit or miss, really fantastic or really not and the few extra bucks for something may be worth it in the end. I would definitely come back again just for the ambiance and great service.
(4)Lorraine B.
Worst corned beef ever had. It was grainy and chewy. Could not finish sandwich Irish stew was more bread than anything. No veggies. Place needs new chef. Will not return.

we went here last night for a celebration. I am a Guinness lover and that is the best thing I can say about this place, the Guinness is excellent. When we entered the waitress tried to seat us on some outside patio, I said no, then she tried to seat us in some room on the right that looked like we were being put in the corner. I said no and she brought us across the main dining room to another room that was empty and I felt like we were being banished to the naughty room. I said no. Then she gave us a nice table in the main area near the fireplace. Weird. then it took so long for someone to come to the table that my boyfriend went to bar to get us drinks. finally the waitress showed up. boy if that pint of Guinness had been bad we would have left. so really we stayed because of good beer. the waitress had no personality and was no help with the menu. We got the brie and the tuna for apps. both were adequate. we ordered a special- flat iron steak. it was so awful we both returned it. like chewing on rawhide. then I ordered the bookmaker. it was one of those things, that after I ate it, it haunted me, like, oh no, why did I eat it? brown thinly ugly roast beef. vey ugly visually. I think I ate it cuz after a few pints I wasn't thinking perfectly. YUCK. my boyfriend got these burger sliders, the duck was gross, the others were so dry - I mean, what a total gross experience. This place ruined my celebration night out. this place is why I often feel safe only going to big corporate restaurants, chain types where you aren't in for a bad surprise. I am glad I didn't get food poisoning last night. Irish restaurant FAIL.
(1)Angie B.
We went on a Sunday afternoon to grab a bite before running errands and can't believe we've lived in the area for nearly two years and never ate here! We rolled up to see a lot of cars in the parking lot but when we walked in, we couldn't tell where everyone was - nice! We don't like crowded restaurants and enjoyed the space. The irish mocha was really good and we liked that prices for drinks were clearly marked on the menu (6.50 for the mocha). I enjoyed the portabella mushroom burger - the special mayo was a little spicy but I love spicy food and the bread was sweet (a nice touch). My fiancé ordered the backyard BBQ burger and it was huge! I had a taste and it was juicy and tender - perfect to me. He added fries to his order for just a dollar more - not too shabby. We'll definitely be back - maybe for their rib eye night during the week or Sunday brunch!

Went here for lunch quite a few times over the course of 2-3 months. It was a little hit-or-miss. I always sat at the bar, and when the dedicated bartenders (both female) were there, service was great. A couple times when I went, however, it seemed like a male waiter was cover both the bar and the entire rest of the place, including the outdoor seating. The second time that happened, I went elsewhere since I can't afford to take that long a lunch break. The food was also a little hit-or-miss. The sandwiches and burgers are mostly solid. I would recommend the bison burger and the turkey club. The regular burger's also good, and there's a day of the week (forget which) when it's half price as a lunch special of some kind. I tried some of the more "fancy" entrees, with varying degrees of success. The shepherd's pie was good the one time I tried it. The Irish Stew was pretty terrible, though. Agree with the other review that said the bread bowl seemed stale. Had the veggie flat bread a couple times, the first time I liked it and the second time I didn't. Not sure if there was a difference, or if I just tired of it that quick. In any case, nothing wrong with this place. I kept going back, but lost my sense of adventure to try new things after a time. Stick to the simple stuff, would be my advice.
(3)Fanny P.
I've eaten here probably 10 times and all of the times before I would have given it 3 or 4 stars but I just can't bring myself to give more than 2 stars to a place that serves microwaved meatloaf. That's just unacceptable. The Brie cheese app was still good and the crab encrusted fish was reported to be yummy but that meatloaf and the Irish stew dropped this review from what could have 3 stars to 2. What happened to this place?!?
(2)Greg G.
Came here for dinner in between viewings at Rucks, was highly disappointed with the Reuben sandwich that was soggy and greasy, flat and not much corned beef. The sauerkraut that was probably three days old , it didn't taste fresh. I also got a side of colcannon which was dry and seemed a bit old also. It seems like every time I asked for a Craft Beer, whoops we don't have that one ,whoops we don't have that one either. At least the bartender did comp me a beer because they didn't have what I wanted. I was told that the Reuben's here are the best, but for me it was the worst Reuben I ever ate in my life. We did get the Bailey's cheese cake for dessert which was delicious. I probably won't be eating here again anytime soon. I just hope it's not one of those places that used to be really good but now is on a slow decline,I hope not.

An Poitin Stil, or "The Stil", as it is often referred to, is a surprisingly great place. It stands apart from other bars and restaurants along York Road. The atmosphere, although a bit "typical" of the "American Irish Pub", is still cozy and inviting. My boyfriend and I have been to The Stil several times, and have yet to be disappointed. Lunch and dinner menu is superb and reasonably priced, and live music on the weekends makes the place a lot of fun. The outdoor patio is also a plus. Don't come to The Stil to watch a sports game, though, as they only have a few small televisions. All in all, I highly recommend this restaurant. Quality food, great atmosphere, attentive staff.

Hadn't seen my sister in a year so we met for lunch here. This is a classic-looking Irish pub/restaurant with more authenticity in its layout than most. This includes the outside which is designed to look like a series of small Irish pubs. The result, from outside, appears to be a series of small buildings. But inside, it's all one. Immediately upon entering you're at the large, circular bar. Moving on there are a series of dining rooms with varying degrees of privacy. We were seated against the far wall in the open dining area, which was good. As is typically tradition for me when in such an establishment, I ordered the Shepherd's Pie. It's the benchmark dish. It was decent. But I've not yet been able to top the Shepherd's Pie at Fado's Irish Pub in Seattle, WA. Granted, Seattle is a long way to go for just one dish. And I don't necessarily recommend you fly out just to try it. But it's simply the best. See my separate review on Fado's for photos and a description of it. My sister got the turkey club and seemed pleased. We didn't try any dessert. Overall, I like the design of this place the most, the food second, and the service last. The restaurant was fairly empty on a Wednesday afternoon but we often lost track of our server and the finished plates remained on the table for a long time (like 30 minutes or more) after we had cleared them. We stayed a long time and I thought our server went home. Oh no there she is. I see her now... Anyway... So to sum it up: Food? Decent Design? Excellent Finally seeing my sister after a year? Priceless!
(3)Steven L.
This place is really cool and authentic, I believe a lot of the interior was brought over from a pub in Ireland!

I have been here a few times in the past before I had discovered Yelp and I had always enjoyed An Poitin Stil for the food and adult beverages. I went here for lunch the other day with my family and found the wait staff to be slow and confused which table they were responsible for; if I was on a normal lunch break at my job I would have been late getting back because of the wait. it could have been that it was the day after Christmas so they were getting back into the groove between the holiday season, but I was a little disappointed it took so long to receive our drink order and then put in our meal orders. Once our appetizer came out I felt better; I think the lack of food was affecting my mood. We had Irish Nachos which are sliced potatoes with melted nacho cheese (the cheese whiz stuff not real cheese), bacon crumbles, scallions, and sour cream on the side; they were tasty and my father and brother scarfed them down quickly. We had finished our app and continued to let that digest while we waited for our meals....the wait still seemed longer that it should have been. The waitress came around and refilled our drinks and then another member of the wait staff brought our sandwiches our to us. I am going to guess they were busy that day, because there were larger lunch parties to take care of. Our sandwiches were great, I had the classic Rubin sandwich which they cooked perfectly because the toasted bread was not soggy from the sauerkraut and dressing. My brother had some ginormous burger that looked bigger than his face and he devoured it. All in all we had a good meal and plenty of time to catch up and enjoy each others company.

If you're looking for a pub that looks like a pub, you've come to the right place. The exterior looks like a little village of shops and the interior is dim with heavy dark wood and areas that look like a monastery or castle. When the weather is nice, you can enjoy a meal or listen to live music in the outdoor seating area. It's a great place to meet friends for lunch, dinner or drinks. There is a large bar that meanders through the middle of the restaurant. They have a decent beer and drink selection. I really enjoy their salads (Chicken Cobb Salad and Steak Salad) and sandwiches, but they also offer Irish fare like fish and chips, stew, and bangers and mash. Overall, a nice place to hang out and popular among locals.

The Still is a great place to grab a Guiness! The shepards pie will make you feel like you are back in Ireland- good food and certainly one of a kind.

went there on a Friday night. We got seated in a separate section that was apart from the dining room. When we entered the room, we saw one other table with three people who looked to be in their 60s. Since my wife and I are in our 50s we immediately looked at each other and said "this must be where they put the old people" Decided to try their "irish selections". My wife got the irish stew in a bread bowl. The stew needed seasoning, very bland. The bread bowl was stale to the point you couldn't cut it with a knife. I got the Shepherd's pie. Oddly enough, the irish stew was made with lamb and the shepherds pie was made with beef. Shouldn't it be the other way around? So, mine comes out looking nice, large round ceramic skillet plate, mashed potatoes on top browned. Then I tasted it. Was it supposed to taste sour? I make Shepherds pie at home and don't add vinegar. Called the waiter over, he said it shouldn't taste sour and offered a replacement item.Got the Bookmaker sandwich on french bread. A lot of onions, meat was ok, served with a cream cheese and onion spread. What do you do with that? The horseradish sauce was enough for the sandwich. Overall, the waiter couldn't have been nicer about the whole thing. We weren't charged for the Shepherds pie or my replacement sandwich. That was more than sufficient. Best part of the meal was the bread and butter they bring to the table before your food arrives.

Rockfish with champ was excellent. Very large place, with very authentic and elaborate Irish decor - enjoyed it very much
